Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to read the register, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This site is built to be accessible by default.
Our standard
Model Age Ratings is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA meets or exceeds the levels required by the U.S. Section 508 standards, the Americans with Disabilities Act (Title II), and the EU Web Accessibility Directive and European Accessibility Act.
What we do to meet it
- Text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and 3:1 for large text, controls, and focus indicators.
- A visible keyboard focus indicator on every control, never hidden by the sticky table header.
- Every interactive target is at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- Colour is never the only way meaning is shown — every age rating and every mismatch carries a word, a number, or a symbol as well as a colour.
- The ratings table is a real, semantic table with a caption, row and column headers, and sortable columns operated by standard buttons; the current sort is announced.
- Filtering is keyboard-operable, result counts are announced, and there is always a way to clear filters.
- The page works at 200% zoom and reflows to a 320-pixel-wide screen; the wide table scrolls horizontally.
- A “skip to main content” link, clear headings and landmarks, and reduced-motion support.
Known limitations
The ratings table is wide by necessity; on small screens it scrolls sideways within its own region rather than reflowing, which is the standard, permitted approach for data tables. We keep the most important columns to the left. If you find any part of the site hard to use, please tell us — see below.
